Accessibility

Mathlark should work for everyone, however you use the web. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most accessibility laws point to.
What we do
- Every page and calculator works with a keyboard alone, with a clear outline showing where you are.
- A "Skip to main content" link at the top of each page takes you past the menu.
- Every field has a label, and any error tells you what's wrong and how to fix it, right next to the field.
- Screen readers hear the result once you stop typing, rather than a stream of partial numbers while you type.
- Text and controls meet contrast requirements in both the light and dark themes.
- Pages work when zoomed to 400% or on a narrow phone, without scrolling sideways.
- Nothing flashes or moves on its own, and the site respects your device's reduced motion setting.
- Charts are never the only way to see a number: every value is also written out as text.
How we test
We check every page with automated tools (axe and Lighthouse), including states like error messages and comparing scenarios, and go through each page by hand with a keyboard. Each new calculator has to pass these checks before it's published.
Known limits
- The calculators need JavaScript to work out results. The explanations, formulas, and worked examples on each page can be read without it.
- We haven't yet tested every page with every screen reader. If something doesn't read well with yours, we'd like to know.

- the page or calculator you were using
- what you were trying to do, and what happened instead
- your browser and device, and any assistive technology you use (such as a screen reader or magnifier)
We read every report and fix accessibility problems as a priority.
